Wheeled excavators

Wheeled excavators are convincing for classic earthmoving work, in traffic route construction or for sewer and pipeline work. With their powerful performance, high payloads and fast working cycles, wheeled excavators cut a fine figure on any construction site. The mobility of the construction machines due to the tyres is a great advantage over excavators with tracked undercarriages. This mobility gives the wheeled excavator a wide range of tasks: in addition to classic digging, the wheeled excavator is also used for trenching.

Compact wheeled excavators

Mobile compact excavators are ideal excavators for work in confined spaces. They combine the advantages of the wheeled excavator with the advantages of a compact excavator. The wheeled excavators of the Compact range are particularly convincing in urban areas, where tight construction sites are the order of the day and the machine is used for a wide variety of tasks. Liebherr short-tail excavators with tyres are available starting with operating weights from 12 tonnes. The rear swing radius is between 1,675 and 1,850 mm, depending on the machine.

Rail-road excavators

Liebherr has been developing rail-road excavators since 1967 and, as an OEM manufacturer, is the world market leader in this field. Liebherr rail excavators are adapted to country-specific specifications (e.g. track width) so that they comply with local conditions and safety regulations.

This means that rail excavators can be used either on the road or on railway tracks. The rail undercarriage enables efficient working on and around railway tracks. Safety systems play a major role in rail machines. Slew limits, rear and side cameras and rollover protection are important safety features.

Crawler excavators

Crawler excavators from Liebherr are available with operating weights of up to 100 tonnes in the earthmoving sector. Larger crawler excavators with operating weights of more than 100 tonnes fall into the mining sector. Crawler excavators show their strength in rough terrain and in larger construction projects where considerable amounts of earth have to be moved.

The new generation of crawler excavators was recently introduced and represents a complete overhaul of the concept. Higher power, heavier ballast weights and larger bucket capacities enable the crawler excavators to work even more efficiently.

Compact crawler excavators

Liebherr Compact crawler excavators combine high performance with compact dimensions. Liebherr crawler excavators with operating weights of up to 29 t are available in the Compact version. They are designed for use in confined spaces and on rough ground. For example, the short-tail excavators are convincing in inner-city construction projects, in forests or in traffic route construction in rural areas.

Rail-road excavators

In addition to the mobile variants, the Liebherr range of rail-road excavators also includes a track-mounted excavator: The R 914 Rail Litronic. Equipped with a short tail as well as rail and crawler undercarriages, the R 914 Rail Litronic is an all-rounder for difficult-to-access and narrow track construction sites. Weighing 19 t, the tracked version is the lightest representative of Liebherr's rail-road excavators. The machine can accelerate on rails at speeds of up to 25 km/h, enabling it to reach the job site in the shortest possible time.

Demolition excavators

Liebherr demolition excavators have been specially developed to meet the requirements of the demolition sector. Demolition excavators are available in weights ranging from 53 to 131 tonnes, making them suitable for smaller and larger demolition jobs. The construction machines ensure safe and comfortable working thanks to the 30° adjustable cab and the LDC system (Liebherr Demolition Control System). Extra long booms make demolition work at great heights possible.

Tunnel excavators

The crawler excavators also include the tunnel excavators. These construction machines were specially developed for the requirements of underground work. Tunnel excavators from Liebherr impress with their special superstructure with short rear swing radius, travel warning devices, integrated additional LED headlights, increased power and a special hydraulic system for optimal use of the cutter. Thanks to these features, narrow working areas and poor ventilation are no problem for the tunnel excavator.

Heavy Crawler Excavator

Liebherr heavy crawler excavators are designed for heavy duty production sites with high productivity requirements, such as large construction jobsites, quarries or mines. They combine a robust design with high performances and optimized utilization cost. Part of the Heavy Crawler Excavator family, the SME series (Super Mass Excavation) have the undercarriage of the next largest operating weight class and an oversized equipment. They can therefore achieve larger buckets capacities with higher digging forces for an improved productivity.

Mining excavator

Thanks to more than 50 years of experience, we know the extreme challenges in the mining industry. Liebherr mining excavators not only stand for high performance, but also for exceptional reliability, easy operation and simple maintenance. The various models in Liebherr's mining product line are optimally equipped for use in the toughest conditions. Mining excavators are the largest excavators in the Liebherr product portfolio.

Mobile material handling machines

Liebherr mobile material handling machines are your partner in material handling. Whether in the timber industry, in scrap handling, in recycling or at the port: with the right handling excavator, an effective operation is guaranteed.

Material handling excavators are available in the Industry, Timber and Port series and fulfil the requirements of the application area through this specialisation. Mobility is a feature of all wheeled material handlers. As an additional option, Liebherr offers the High rise undercarriage variant, which is required for certain port and industry applications.

Crawler material handling machines

Crawler material handling machines from Liebherr are effective, powerful and economical. They impress with their high handling performance combined with low fuel efficiency. Liebherr meets the different tasks in material handling with a wide range of machine options. In addition to the Industry and Port specialisation, handling excavators with crawler tracks can also be ordered in the Gantry and High Rise versions. Especially in port, tracked material handlers move with ease and offer the operator a comfortable workplace.

Electric material handling machines

Electric material handling machines are available in the 26 t and 110 - 150 t weight classes. The advantages of electric material handlers are obvious: independence from legal exhaust emission standards, low operating costs and low-noise operation. These advantages are particularly evident when working indoors with short travel distances. But the use of electric material handling machines also makes sense outdoors, for example at the port.

Traditional product excavator - experience for over 65 years

The Liebherr excavator is a true traditional product! Excavators have been an important part of the product range since the early 1950s. In 1953, Hans Liebherr developed one of Europe's first hydraulic excavator as a response to the rope excavators that had prevailed until then. The production of wheeled and crawler excavators was expanded in the following years and supplemented by large hydraulic excavators for the mining sector. In 1979, Liebherr presented the world's first hydraulically driven rope excavator with electronic control. In this way, the range of construction machinery continued to develop.

Today, the product range is more diverse than ever and Liebherr offers solutions for every construction project. Hydraulic excavators with crawler tracks score points in unstable ground conditions, while wheeled excavators can cover longer distances on the construction site thanks to their wheels. Pontoon excavators are the Liebherr solution for operations on and around water. The operating weights of Liebherr hydraulic excavators vary from the smallest compact excavator, the A 910 Compact, weighing 12 tonnes, to the largest excavator in the portfolio, the R 9800 mining excavator weighing 800 tonnes. The different sizes, from the small excavators to the large excavators, promise our customers a variety of options.
