George Washington gave the first State of the Union address in 1790 at Federal Hall in New York City, as was required of him by Article II of the U.S. Constitution. The timing of the address has varied; for many years, it was sent to Congress in December. Nowadays, it usually takes place in January or February. Interestingly, Washington called for a “national University” in his first address; Congress, however, elected not to create one.

- It has been my experience that, once again, contestants underbet Daily Doubles and overbet Final Jeopardy!, especially considering that a Daily Double is generally easier than a Final Jeopardy! is.
